Our 2019 AGM

As another year passes we today all came together for our club's Annual General Meeting. A big thank you to Ben & Amy for hosing us so well at The Filling Station Cafe and Colyford Cycles.

It's been a full fun packed year with: more sportives and audax events entered to mention, we've had foreign adventures with the annual French Foray and Seaton Twinning visits and the launch of our racing team which finished the year just one place behind Chard Wheelers .. who would have imagined such things of the Axe Valley Pedallers this time last year!

We still have much work to do though. Since our 2017 initiative to encourage more ladies into cycling we've seen great results but will be looking to relaunch this in 2020 to get us closer to the ideal 50:50 gender balance.

As a club, not unsurprising for catchment area, we have an ageing membership, but this is another treat we will be looking to address in 2020, so watch this space!

The finale of the AGM was, as always, the giving of awards. This year we had winners for an Epic ride which was won by Dawn for climbing Mont Ventoux. Our  Broken Crank award which was handed out to Colin for ending up in Sidmouth Ford. Our Academy award for the most improved rider of which Andy was a popular winner. And our Racing Snake award for which Colin returned to the podium to accept for the number of TT events he participated in this year.

Finally, we had a very special award for Becca. Have you ever wondered who that lady is, cycling all weathers, every week day, from Seaton to Sidmouth and back? Well we announce today that it is our very own, Angel of the 3052! Recognised by Seaton Jurassic and DevonWildlife Trust today as an inspiration to all commuters that there is a better way to travel.

Here's to 2020 and more cycling for all!
