Pedalabout Project Launched |

The roundabout, or should we say Pedalabout (as it has been named by local cyclists) at Fisherman’s Gap on Seaton’s seafront has just been officially launched as a joint community project between Seaton Town Council and the local cycle club Axe Valley Pedallers.
18 bicycles rescued from the scrapheap have been given a second lease of life to provide a bright and cheerful display that celebrates the joys and fun of cycling. Axe Valley Pedallers under the guidance of club member Sebastian Cope, have, over 7 weeks collected, prepared, painted and planted the bikes and have now added several hundred flowers provided by the town council to finish the display.
The project was officially launched today with members of the Axe Valley Pedallers, the Town Clerk David Mears, Seaton Town Council’s Office Manager Marie Prideaux and the Town’s Mayor, Bob Palacio. Chairman of Axe Valley Pedallers, Alistair 'Madal' Cope said “We see this as a long term project with Seaton Town Council for the community of Seaton. The feedback has been fantastic from everyone and we are so pleased that it has caused so many people to smile and think about cycling”.
The Town Clerk, David Mears added, “it is fantastic to see this project take shape. AxeValley Pedallers have worked tirelessly from start to finish on this project and it has been an absolute pleasure. The Council looks forward to continuing this strong and healthy partnership, which the community and tourists will no doubt enjoy.” |
