Exeter CTC Weekend in the Cotswolds

It is intended to run a camping weekend in the Cotswolds providing both off-road and/or on-road cycle days on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 July. The campsite is just one and a half miles from Bourton on the Water. While final details have yet to be established, bearing in mind the extra demand for campsites in the summer because of the recession, it will be advisable to book early to ensure a place. Bourton on the Water is a holiday centre and accordingly will also be able provide B&B accommodation.

The site will be visited in late February before confirming the arrangements, but the indications are that the venue holds much promise. In broad terms we have provisionally booked for 12 or more people, although there is no limit. All the sites have electrical hook ups and are fairly large so two tents may well be able to use one pitch at a total cost of £15 per night. The usual facilities are provided but no children are allowed on the site. Booking in due course will be the responsibility of each couple/ person attending, liasing direct with the campsite owner.

As a centre for cycling the area is most promising. There is an abundance of off-road routes some of which are known to the organiser. Likewise it is an ideal starting point for on-road routes around the Cotswolds with many picturesque villages and welcoming coffee stops available.
