All AVP members get a 10% discount at Soanes, so do please call in and support George who supports us so well. The photo shows George (front left) during his first race of the season that he went onto win! Thanks to Mrs O for the stunning pic.

French Foray 2010
France welcomed ten enthusiastic AVP cyclists with a frosty but gloriously sunny morning for our annual weekend cycling tour.

Concerns for a rough crossing after the previous week’s gales and floods disappeared as we arrived at Plymouth Ferry Port on Friday evening and wheeled our bikes on board the Bretagne. Thanks go to Ketchup for organising parking permits which meant that we also avoided queuing, being the first people on the boat.

Tweed Run for Headway Devon

We’ll be setting off from Seaton Tourist Information centre at 10am, on a 3-4 mile route passing the Tate promenade, Seaton's Big Ben, Buckingham Palace (no word yet on if ma’am will be joining us), the Old Axmouth Bridge, Estuary way, stopping off in Colyton for a spot of tea and scones in Liddons Dairy tea room, and ending with a bit of a knees-up in the White Hart, Colyford.

The event is to raise money for Headway Devon which is an independent registered charity working to provide essential services to people in the county of Devon with brain injuries, their families and carers. For more information, go to http://www.headwaydevon.org.uk/.

Could you be the next Nicole Cooke
Those of you who spent your summer evenings last year racing round the Merryfield Airfield at Ilton will be well aware of the fantastic buzz you get from riding in a bunch on a traffic free, closed race circuit. Those of you who haven’t just need to ask a Pedaller who did to see their eyes light up as they recall the thrill!

Wouldn’t it be great if we had such a facility closer to home and a race series strictly for novices and beginners? Even better if there were coaching from a British Cycling coach and you didn’t need an expensive race licence to take part.  Well, guess what..... we have!

AVP & HCC joint ride
Keen to support other like minded community based social cycling groups Axe Valley Pedallers recently joined the newly formed Honiton Cycling Club for a joint Sunday ride.

AVP is a comparatively young club on the Devon cycling scene yet already has a significant membership and caters for a diverse range of cycling interests. One of the motivating factors that led to the formation of Honiton's new club was to provide the same inclusive cycling opportunities for all that has proved such a success for the AVP.
