Quiff's Quest - The April Ride - Easter Sunday |

Quiff’s Quest is to cycle the Granite Way on the edge of Dartmoor and he is our ride leader for our 2nd Sunday of the month ride in April (Easter Sunday 12th).
There will be just one ride on the actual Granite way itself, which is 11 miles from Okehampton to Lydford making a return journey a total of 22miles. There is plenty of info about the route in this Booklet (pdf file a bit slow to download but worth it).

 The Axe Valley Pedallers have just had a visit from Katie Aartse-Tuyun, the Volunteer Co-ordinator from Sustrans in Bristol. Katie had travelled down to the Axe Valley to meet up with two of our volunteer Rangers for Sustrans (Madal and Deegee) and also to sign up two new Rangers (Bar Bunny and Nevis). She cycled with the Axe Valley Pedallers who meet her form the train and later made a presentation explaining the role of the Ranger today and how they can help encourage all to cycle not only to keep fit, but as a principle form of transport. |

 Many thanks to all those that turned out to support the Devon Air Ambulance Trust by taking part in the quiz night held last Sunday at the Whitehart, Colyford.
Special thanks go to The Editor for hosting the evening and to Sono for arranging the prize, which he promptly went on to win!

 This month’s AVP ride (8th March 2009) took place out of the Axe Valley and into the urban centre and cycling demonstration city of Exeter. Our meeting place was the Honiton Road Park and Ride car park on the edge of the City close to the M5 jct 29. Just after 11:00 am the assembled group cycled away heading ultimately for the Turf Locks on the Exeter Canal.

 Hot on the heels of Monday’s AVP Quiz Night for DAAT, Sono has just heard that the last two collection boxes contained, wait for it...............................a massive total of £274.69
Quite a lot of that came from the beard growing at the end of last year as well as Bar Bunny's cakes and Pedallers fines!

 Peter Vernon who lives in Colyford has very kindly and generously donated an award to Axe Valley Pedallers via Buster. All of us at AVP are very grateful and the photo most certainly does not do it justice.
Peter has developed his own style and is self-taught. He balances an understanding of the properties of wood with his appreciation of flowing lines and form. His work reflects his love of nature – his inspiration.
