AVP ride with Dean DowningAVP Tv has been a little quiet of late but we're back with a bang this month with no less than three exclusive interviews with some of the world's best pro riders.

Last month we were invited to attend the media ride for the South West stages of the Tour of Britain by Devon County Council and were joined by none other than the star of this year's Tour Series Dean Downing.

altBuilding on the success of our big charity event in aid of Devon Air Ambulance Trust held last year, we are now organising an epic verison.

It will be the same 5 mile circular route along the Axe Estuary, through Colyford and back to Seaton but this year there will be one very significant difference, it is going to held for a full 24 hours!

The event has been timed to coincide with the Tour of Britain race that will pass through Seaton on Friday the 18th of September 2009 and will also form a major part of The Seaton Festival of Cycling taking place the same weekend.

Axe Valley Pedallers at Ilton

Axe Valley Pedallers (AVP) are very keen to emphasis that their aim is to develop community cycling in and around the Axe Valley.

However, cycling today has many facets and AVP are trying to introduce cyclists to as many different disciplines as possible. As part of this approach, this summer season a number of Pedallers have been taking part in race training at Merryfield Airfield, Near Ilton.

Sono's Ride 2 Work PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 22 July 2009 12:21
I have cycled to work for the month of May raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).  I am the charity officer for the Axe Valley Pedallers (AVP), our chosen charity is DAAT and this is our fourth year sponsoring this very worthy charity.  AVP are aiming to reach the target of £10,000 by the end of the year raising money from events over the previous four years.  To help reach the target, I thought cycling to work would be a good challenge.  If you know the area and the terrain I have cycled, you will know how difficult this has been!

Nostalgic Steam Ride PDF Print E-mail

Semptember's Sunday ride is going to be something a bit special this month because we have booked a journey on West Somerset Railway's steam train!

We will be catching the steam train from Bishops Lydeard (Taunton) to Watchet on the Somerset Coast.  The journey is about 50 minutes in each direction.  From there we will ride inland past Cleeve Abbey and then back in a loop towards the coast at Blue Anchor.  We return to Watchet in plenty of time to have lunch and a wander around the lovely little town with it's interesting harbour and spectacular views across to Wales.

Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:51
AVP Treasure Hunt 2009Fun, food and curious clues were enjoyed during a great family day out. It was a pleasure to welcome local and visiting families who joined us for the first time.

Organised by Sebastian 'Sono' Cope, the Charity Officer, and Ben 'Buster' Dowell, all ages cycled in and around Colyton, armed with a variety of amusing and challenging questions. Children and adults could be seen darting in and out of the hedgerows, gazing over fences and bridges and peering at the dates written on maps and old buildings.
